Frequently Asked Questions
What Is the Difference Between Galangal and Ginger?
Galangal has a sharper, more citrusy and piney flavor compared to Ginger’s warm, spicy heat. The two are not interchangeable in recipes. Galangal is essential for authentic Thai Tom Kha, Tom Yum, and Indonesian Rendang – dishes where Ginger substitution would produce a noticeably different flavor profile.
